FAQ

I was just arrested for an Illinois DUI. Does that mean I will lose my driver's license?

In most DUI arrests in Illinois, an automatic suspension starts 46 days after the officer gives you a “Notice of Summary Suspension”.  A suspension is basically temporary, but you only have 90 days from the date of notice to file a petition to contest it, or you lose the opportunity.  Filing early is important in most cases.
However, if convicted of DUI, the Secretary of State of Illinois will revoke your driving privileges.  Restoration of your driver’s license after revocation is not as simple as ending a suspension, which simply requires payment of a fee.  In some cases, revocation can be permanent with no relief available. Obviously, in such situations, excellent representation by lawyers skilled in DUI defense in Illinois is a must.  Call 1-888-DUI-Stop (1-888-384-7867) now for a free consultation.
